Evesham Court Retrofit Delivers Sustainable, Healthy Homes in Newport
CHIC is proud to share a new case study highlighting the successful delivery of a whole-house retrofit at Evesham Court in Wales, delivered through the CHIC Healthy Homes Framework in partnership with Hedyn and funded by the Welsh Government’s Optimised Retrofit Programme (ORP).

Completed in autumn 2024 by contractor Evolve HES, the project transformed 11 properties, five houses and six flats, into sustainable and energy efficient homes. With around £48,000 invested per property, the work included a suite of energy and ventilation upgrades, all delivered to PAS standards and fully Trustmark compliant.
The works significantly improved energy performance, reduced carbon emissions and contributed to Hedyn’s 2023–2028 corporate goal of achieving EPC band C or better across all homes by 2030.
Key outcomes:
- Lower energy bills and improved comfort for residents
- Increased use of renewable energy via solar PV
- Improved external appearance, welcomed by the local community
- Safe removal of asbestos
- Future proofed homes, ready for further decarbonisation efforts
- Secured funding for additional projects in Newport
The
successful delivery of this project not only proves the concept of deep
retrofit but has also unlocked funding for further phases at nearby Sedgemoor
Court and Stamford Court.
