One of the latest supply chain partners to CHIC is Lukemans, a property maintenance and electrical service provider to the social housing sector.
Founded in 2017, Lukemans, has evolved from a fixed wire electrical services provider to a full service maintenance company, focusing on social housing and commercial projects. With a £4 million+ turnover and 60+ employees, their emphasis is on sustainability, delivering retrofit, decent homes, voids and repairs, solar and EV charging installation services to clients from their newly expanded net zero head office based in Peterborough, and in their own operations, boasting a silver EcoVadis score and Planet Mark certification. They also have extensive experience in other planned maintenance services, particularly in kitchen and bathroom renovations and more widely, helping to provide decent homes to residents.

Director Karl Lukeman tells us more: “I founded Lukemans in 2017 to bring a new standard to fixed wire electrical services, providing a service from real, skilled people to the social housing sector across the UK. Along the way, we’ve built up accreditations, reputation and experience along with a skilled team that is able to offer more than just electrical services. We’re agile and we’ve adapted to our customers needs over time, with contracts growing from initially just fixed wire testing to electrics in Kitchen and Bathroom installations to the full installation of the works. This prompted a rebrand to Lukemans (an evolution building on our electrical services heritage) earlier last year and we now offer a full range of construction services, with a particular focus on maintenance and compliance. Our goal is to be a universal service provider for all social housing providers and councils – a platform to lean on. And so far, we’ve had great success with this through our existing customer relationships.
Sustainable Partner
“Our agility, combined with our electrical knowledge, means we’re good at keeping up with the latest trends and technologies, and we’re able to implement those services quickly. We’re passionate about renewable technologies – most of our fleet is EV vans and we hold the Planet Mark certification which means we’ve demonstrated measurable progress in reducing our carbon footprint and embedding sustainability into our operations. We’re also EcoVardis scored as Silver, which reflects our structured and proactive approach to sustainability and ranks us in the top 15% of companies accredited. It’s more than just environmental impact, it’s about our ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility – our ethics, our people and our procurement.
“This commitment extends to supporting our customers to be more sustainable too. We offer retrofit services to help with decarbonisation with a specialism in renewable energy, solar, battery storage and EV charging installation services.
“There’s a lot of debate in the sector around the approach to decarbonisation, whether the focus should be on fabric first retrofit or renewable energy. To me, both are valid approaches, and solar is definitely a positive move. The UK relies heavily on the grid, buying electricity in from Europe. If we can become more self-sufficient as a country by using solar and battery storage, this can only be positive. There have been substantial improvements in the technology too, it’s just really important to make sure the electrics are geared up and future proofed in a way to ensure we can all push forward.
Decent Homes
“While renewable energy is our core to our ethos we’re also passionate about supporting our customers to offer safe, sustainable homes to residents, in line with new and existing Decent Homes standards. There’s a lot of emphasis on this in the sector at the moment and we want to be at the forefront of the movement. With all the changes in the sector around sustainability, Decent Homes, Voids and repairs and of course, the new Procurement Act which has opened up more opportunities.
