New Podcast Series Launch: MMC – The Future of UK Housing or a Failed Experiment?
The UK Government has set ambitious targets to build 300,000 new homes every year for their current term in office, with at least 25% using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). But why has MMC struggled to gain traction in the UK, while other countries have succeeded?
To explore this, CHIC has launched a new video podcast series hosted by Sarah Davey, CHIC’s Head of Development and co-hosted by Tim West, Director at ARK Consultancy. The series dives into the realities of MMC – the challenges, successes and lessons learned, featuring expert guests from across the housing and construction sectors.
Episode 1: Why Has the UK Struggled with MMC?
In the first episode, filmed inside CHIC’s modular showhome, Sarah and Tim speak with Stuart Marshall, Director at Stack Modular (formerly Head of Sales at Elements Europe), about the real state of MMC in the UK.
They discuss government targets, industry barriers and the seven defined types of MMC. Exploring why adoption has been slow and what needs to change to make modular housing work at scale.
