CHIC September Board Meeting: Key Highlights

CHIC’s September Board Meeting was focused on our strategic direction, celebrating our successes, and looking ahead to how we can better support our members and supply chain partners.

Board members were delighted note the 2025/26 financial year was a resounding success. All key performance metrics were ahead of target, reflecting the hard work of the CHIC team and the strength of our member and supplier partnerships. Our previous five-year strategy has concluded with all key actions completed, providing a solid foundation for our future growth and new five-year strategy. Furthermore, CHIC’s annual audit resulted in a clean, unmodified opinion, confirming that our financial health remains robust and transparent.

A major theme of Board discussion was the evolving landscape of social and affordable housing and exploring opportunities to support members in navigating new funding options, in a challenging financial environment.

CHIC recognise that the sector faces ongoing challenges, particularly regarding the speed of project delivery and the perceived complexity of procurement. We discussed the importance of “speed of service” and how our open-book frameworks can help members protect budgets and start work on-site more efficiently.

CHIC Board and the Executive Team addressed the need for better data and communication. We are committed to improving how we share insights and case studies, ensuring that members and suppliers have the information they need to make informed decisions. We are also actively working to ensure our leadership and recruitment processes reflect the diverse communities we serve, as we believe this diversity strengthens our organisation and the wider sector.

Our focus for the coming year is on connecting our learning, our frameworks, and our partnerships to deliver real value. We are already planning our 2027 conference, which will be more action-driven, focusing on practical applications that delegates can implement immediately.

Along with strong strategic governance of our board, we are grateful for the continued trust and collaboration of our members and suppliers. Together, we are not just delivering projects; we are building stronger, more sustainable communities.
