At the start of 2023/24, we were delighted to welcome Amanda Long as our new Independent Chair Elect and she was formally appointed Chair in June 2024. However, the year was also marked by the sad passing of her predecessor, Maggie Punyer, whose leadership and dedication to CHIC’s success will be deeply missed.

Throughout the year, CHIC saw a progressive expansion of services, with 225 new contracts commencing for 113 members, a 34% increase in member spend and nearly £200 million delivered in member asset management spend. Our membership grew significantly, with 47 new members joining, bringing our total membership to over 250. To support this growth, we welcomed 10 new colleagues to our team, further strengthening our member services and procurement capacity.

We are proud to report that we have reduced our average transaction fee for members to 2%, aligning with our strategic target. Additionally, we continue to deliver significant social value outcomes, both through our contracts and our support of CHIP, our aligned charity. We have also procured three new frameworks—Newbuild and Regeneration, Legal Services and Healthy Homes – ensuring that our members have access to high quality and compliant procurement solutions.

Collaboration is at the heart of CHIC’s approach and we hosted six webinars, four roundtable consultations events and two framework launches, alongside our annual conference and participation in other sector events. These initiatives ensure we stay closely connected to our members and their evolving needs.

We extend our sincere thanks to our members, supply chain partners and the CHIC Board for their ongoing support and guidance. Together, we continue to strengthen our collaborative approach, ensuring the best outcomes for the people living in our members’ homes and their communities.

Social Value Annual Report

We also share the CHIC Social Value Annual Report for 2023/24, which highlights the impact of our contractual commitments and the value created through our partnerships. All CHIC’s procured contracts are required to deliver social value outcomes, contributing a minimum of 1% of their annual turnover. This report showcases how these expectations have been delivered.

The report details our employment sponsorship programme, including a case study that highlights the success of our work with Local Employment Groups (LEGs), and the organisations that have benefitted from our Community Chest Fund grants.

We also acknowledge our annual award winners and the volunteering efforts from the CHIC team.
