WHQS Roundtable

Back in November, CHIC hosted a roundtable event to bring together social landlords and supply chain partners, to consider how we can create effective delivery of the ORP in Wales. We wanted to ensure that our partners have the right tools and solutions in place, with added social value.

CHIC will be hosting the third roundtable in the series on 17th July 2024 in Cardiff.

This time we will be extending our focus to the WHQS 2023. This new version aims to step up the decarbonisation of social housing stock and drive efforts to achieve net zero. One of the major changes is that the landlords must carry out a Whole Stock Assessment and produce Target Energy Pathways for all their homes with a deadline of March 2027.   There is an increased requirement for suitable floorings located within the home, water poverty measures and adequate clothes washing and drying facilities. Added to this is also a need for consideration of noise reduction, biodiversity and digital connectivity.

Landlords will be expected to ensure that all their homes have a Target Energy Pathways by March 2027 and reach a fabric-based EPC band C (SAP 75) by March 2030. Overall, the WHQS 2023 sets out a timeline of 2034 for all homes to meet the new standard.

This event is targeted at social housing providers who are members of CHIC. We will also be inviting CHIC supply chain partners who are on the Wales ORP DPS and Healthy Homes Framework that are working in Wales.
