CHIC Conference 21st May 2025

Exploring the key issues challenging asset management in the housing sector in 2025.

One thing you can say about the housing sector, it never stands still, and 2025 is no exception.

Housing itself is in the political spotlight like it hasn’t been for several years. The Government has a bold stated ambition of building 1.5 million homes during this parliament (out to 2029). In addition to this we have already seen the introduction of the new Procurement Act (February) and the announcement of the biggest tranche to date of the Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund Wave 3 (March). In October we will see the start of the phased introduction of Awaab’s Law and we are also promised that this year the Future Homes Standard will be published after years of consultation and discussion.

All this activity shows that “Housing Matters Now”, and this is why we have chosen this as the title (and sentiment) for our annual conference and exhibition which will take place once again at the Telford International Centre on Wednesday 21st May.

It is why we have curated a conference that covers the main issues the sector faces today and in the near future, and one we feel sure will add value to all attendees.

Once again, we welcome the BBC’s Home Editor, Mark Easton as our conference chair. This year he is joined by influential housing journalist Vicky Spratt who will host our new Exhibition stage. Between them they will oversee debate and interviews on some of the hot topics the sector faces now, including:

• Using a resident approach to define building safety
• Creating vibrant communities that work for all
• The value of data in effective housing planning
• How are we progressing to a carbon-free future?
• What the changes to The Procurement Act mean for you
• How to measure and define your social value
• How can we deliver the Government’s ambition of 1.5 million new homes

But this is not just about hearing from leading thinkers in the sector. The opportunity exists to meet and connect with many other players from across the social housing sector and the supply chain that supports it. We have 60 exhibitors in place displaying the solutions that will help make housing better for residents and for housing providers.

Of all the issues facing the sector there is one common theme – collaboration and partnership working will be key to their success, so “Housing Matters Now” provides the perfect backdrop to enhance those relationships.

The day is complemented by our annual CHIP Fundraising Dinner and Awards Evening where we recognise the social value and work of individuals and organisations in their communities and beyond. This year we welcome as our host for the evening, founding Editorial Director of Unlock Net Zero and Sustainability Communications Consultant Andy Cameron-Smith.

We believe Wednesday 21st May is a day worth your investment to build your knowledge on the issues facing the housing sector now and to build relationships for mutual benefit.
