Sir Edward Lister, Chair of Homes England suggested that “Modular is the future for social and affordable homes building”. Speaking at the CHIC Annual Conference and Exhibition Sir Ed advised that Homes England will be prioritising modular in supporting social / affordable housing delivery.
He also suggested that “young people are not interested “in traditional building work” and that modular meets the right price points and has the potential to attract talent into the sector.
CHIC showcased its innovative volumetric house as part of the conference allowing delegates the opportunity to take a tour of the house.
The volumetric house is part of the CHIC BuildSmart framework which combines volume, standardisation, co-ordinated materials supply and efficient processes which provide parity across all construction solutions (volumetric, panel and traditional).
The conference chaired by the BBC’s Home Editor Mark Easton was attended by around 300 delegates and included 8 CPD registered workshops with 40 organisations exhibiting and the CHIC annual Trainee of the Year award.
